When healthy gluten free pop tarts don’t exist, you make your own😋 These simple Healthy Chocolate Poptarts (vegan & gluten free) and are the chocolatey, flakey goodness that dreams are made of🤤
THE BASE
The Chocolate Chips (Aka the melty obsessive center)

-this gives the tarts a real classic, homemade pop-tart look and makes them rise with their chocolatey center!!
THE RECIPE
yields: 6 tarts
prep time: 15 minutes
cook time: 15 minutes
total time: 30 minutes
Ingredients: 1/2 cup oat flour 1 cup blanched almond flour 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cup cacao powder 1/3 cup maple syrup 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (to put in between the layers of chocolatey pop tart goodness, can also sub 2 pieces of a chocolate bar)
Instructions: 1. Preheat oven to 350 (F) and prepare a baking sheet with oil or reusable parchment 2. In a large bowl, add together the oat flour, almond flour, baking soda, salt, and cacao powder 3. Then fold in the maple syrup, vanilla, and apple sauce with a spatula 4. Roll the batter evenly into 12 balls and flatten 6 of them onto the baking sheet (forming them into about 1/4 inch thin rectangles) Then place a handful of chocolate chips into the center of each rectangle. Flatten the next 6 balls into rectangles (a bit smaller and thicker) and place them on top on the previous rectangles (Don’t press down, just place!) 5. Take a fork and attach the two cookies together using the end of the tongs repeatedly on the outside of the cookie (away from the filling) until it is sealed 6. Place in the oven for 13-15 minutes and let cool for 10, enjoy!!
